Dave’s End of Year Letter
Dave’s End of Year Letter

Dear Aldersgator,

At the end of each year I get to sit back and reflect on all of the things that have happened here at Aldersgate Camp & Retreat Center. Over the course of 2019 much has been done to continue the ministry at your camp; to kindle new relationships, develop new disciples, and grow Christian leaders.

To keep current on the most recent activities and projects at Aldersgate, like our Facebook page or our website at www.aldersgatecamp.org. These are some highlights of 2019:

  • We saw 601campers this season
  • We held our annual CAMP workday and again saw over 100 volunteers come out to work on continuing projects and to prepare for summer camp.
  • We successfully raised funds and have now completed the new signs at the entrance of camp.
  •  We completely redeveloped the Camp’s website. Please take a look www.aldersgatecamp.org
  • We successfully raised funds and have completed the new covered bridge.
  • We are continuing to work with Civic Consultants from Louisville on the New Lodge.
  • We are in the process of preparing the clearing for the new Cabin Village. These new cabins will be heated and air-conditioned and will have a sleeping capacity of 12-24 depending on the cabin built. This will allow for additional year-round retreat housing.
  • Our relationship with the Red Bird Missionary Conference continues to grow and we give thanks for that.
As I think through the memories of 2019, there are two quotes from camper parents shared that stand out in particular:
“I went to camp for the first time when I was 10 years old. Last summer, I took my daughter for her first full week of camp. Being able to share that experience, and watch her grow in her faith the same way I did, has been incredible!” The second quote was, “My son grows so much spiritually every summer at Aldersgate. He comes home with renewed trust, hope and faith in God.”
These are just some of the examples of camper experiences kindled at camp. It is people like you who have invested in the ministry of Aldersgate that allow experiences like these to become a reality. I hope you have experienced the impact of Aldersgate on your life as a camper, dean, volunteer, staff member or retreat guest. We want to invite you to recall those experiences and consider including Aldersgate as a recipient of your one time, year-end tax-deductible donations via check or through the Pay Pal account set up on our website www.aldersgatecamp.org. In closing, we want to say that we cherish our friendship with you and truly appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and gifts. We look forward to seeing you in 2020. This we will be celebrating our 58th season of ministry. Pay close attention, there is more to come!
Grace and Peace,
Dave Cohn
