Lifting our Voices Before We Swing our Hammers

CAMP Workday at Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center is more than a time to volunteer. Aldersgate is a special place where people can step away from the day-to-day demands of life and consider instead what God is calling them to be. Aldersgate has always be a place of worship, as well as, fun.

Recognizing that, CAMP Workday includes a special time to gather as a community to worship and reflect. On Friday, March the 27th, all the volunteers who have gathered to prepare Aldersgate for the summer season will join in the Chapel for an amazing evening of music and worship.

This year, we are beyond pleased to have Will Solomon joining us to lead worship. Will has a deep love and long history with Aldersgate. He wanted to share this about what Aldersgate has meant to him.

“I was a sophomore in high school when I first went to summer camp at Aldersgate. Even though I forgot deodorant that week, I made friendships that would inevitably shape my life’s trajectory. As a camper, it was there that I sang my first worship song, conquered my first high ropes course, and had my first kiss – happened on the porch swing at the office. As a staff counselor for two summers, it was at the campfire in the woods, by the chapel, where I first heard God’s call on my life to pursue a vocation in music, the lodge where I tried the hottest hot sauce of my life then cried for an hour, and the field where John Hill, Philip Hogg, and I came up with the idea for a community life game that holds the egotistical name, ‘Phil, Hill, Will’, or however the order goes. Aldersgate is a life changer and its home.”

We are all blessed that Will headed God’s call in his life. Will has a special gift with music, and we know that Friday evening will be a great beginning to a powerful weekend.

This year, our priority service projects focus on enhancing the experience our campers and guests have at Aldersgate. One major project is improving all of the campfire rings around camp, including the chapel ring that Will mentioned above. You can adopt that project today and/or sponsor that specific project for $200.
