Youth Discipleship in Community
Youth Discipleship in Community

There are many slogans ringing in our ears right now: healthy at home, alone together, stay home save lives, and on and on. While these are all ways we can show care for one another, they can also become isolating. It can start to feel like we are navigating this time and our lives all on our own.

Our Christian faith is an individual decision. Our relationship with God is personal too. The ways we strengthen that understanding and grow our belief can vary from person to person. Yet Jesus modeled for us a powerful tool to support our walk of faith. Do it in community. Christians can draw together to encourage and support one another, as we collectively pursue a relationship with God.

Aldersgate’s Youth Discipleship Retreat (YDR) invites young people from across Kentucky to draw closer to God while you build connections to other young people. And this year we will be hosting it virtually! YDR is a great retreat opportunity for youth groups and individual youth. All are welcomed to this May 15-16, 2020 virtual retreat. Three sessions will be posted on Aldersgate’s Facebook and YouTube pages, with optional group sessions hosted on Zoom.

Drew McNeill, the Wesley Foundation Director at Morehead University, will be leading worship. This year’s theme of Experience God through the Word means a lot to him. Drew said, “YDR is a chance to go DEEPER… deeper in your faith, deeper in your commitment toward Jesus, deeper in your awareness of how to hear the Good Shepherd’s voice (see John 10).  YDR 2020 is a chance to embody the Scripture that says, “For the Word of God is living and active… sharper than any two edged sword…” (Hebrews 4:12)

We can’t wait to have you join us for this amazing virtual retreat!
